Moracle Seminars -

Good Practice Governance for Trustees – Safeguarding your compliance

Tuesday 8th March 2011 9:30 am - noon
CAN Mezzanine 49-51 East Street, London N1 6AH

Recent reports and guidance from the Charity Commission have pointed to the increase focus and work that its Compliance Division  have been putting in carrying out its work. There have been a number of cases where the commission have felt the need to be seen to be exercising its regulatory role in the face of stiff media and other pressures place upon it. One of the key roles of the trustees is to make sure that they and any others they hire to carry out the charity’s work complies with charity law, good practice and the memorandum and articles of the charity. Failure to regularly monitor and question issues that may contravene any laws or practices can lead to bad publicity and legal problems.

This seminar will:
Examine some of the main issues that must be considered under the heading of compliance and how trustees and senior management can stay on the right side of the law, the Commission and its stakeholders.
